Report: Jets could part ways with RB Jones

A career year may not be enough for RB Thomas Jones to remain with the New York Jets.
The Newark Star-Ledger reports that while Jones finished with career highs in rushing yards (1,402) and touchdowns (14), he could be the next high-profile runner behind LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook to be released this offseason:
Jones, who turns 32 in August, is due to earn a $3 million roster bonus next month plus a $2.8 million base salary in 2010. The Jets want him to renegotiate his contract or they’ll likely release him.
The club and Jones’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have had discussions and the two sides are expected to talk this week at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
