Packers NT Pickett expects franchise tag

Packers NT Ryan Pickett expects to receive the franchise tag soon, according to a league source.

The sides have been discussing a long-term deal and will continue to do so, but the Packers are unwilling to let Pickett hit the open market. Pickett would be the third defensive tackle to be tagged, with Steelers NT Casey Hampton also bracing for the tag before Thursday’s deadline.

Patriots NT Vince Wilfork and 49ers NT Aubrayo Franklin already have been tagged this week. The tag carries a $7.003 million salary for 2010.
