Saints choose not to place franchise tag on Sharper

The Saints informed FS Darren Sharper on Monday that they will not apply the franchise tag to him, according to a league source.

Sharper is coming off a huge season for the Saints and is a potential unrestricted free agent. The sides have until March 5 to complete a deal before Sharper would be free to negotiate with another team.
