Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh visited the NFL Network studios on Feb. 19, and checked in with NFL.com for a live chat with fans.
Houshmandzadeh, always candid in his answers, didn’t hide his disappointment in how his first season in Seattle played out.
“Oh yeah [it was a letdown],” Houshmandzadeh said. “I would say I was disappointed in myself, I was disappointed in the way I approached a lot of things, for whatever reason. But I learned from it, it won’t happen again. When you expect a lot and get just a little … I didn’t handle it well, and I learned from it.”
Here are a few other of Houshmandzadeh’s takes:
Travis, Bellingham, WA
T.J., it was a shame to see the low number of touches you had last season. Do you think the new staff will focus on getting the ball into your capable hands more often?
Houshmandzadeh: Hi Travis. I believe I will get more opportunities to make plays when the game matters. Last year, I didn’t handle being told one thing and then seeing another very well. That played a part in it — the touches and the looks. But, from what I’m told, things will be different. As long as we win, I’m fine with it. My touches can be minimal — as long as we win, I’m cool.
Nathon, Richmond Hill, Canada
Finish this sentence, Seahawks when the division if …
Houshmandzadeh: They throw me the ball!!! LOL, J/K. But I do think we have to be focused, we have to be willing to put in the necessary work to win, and have an open mind about the changes that are going to happen, and then embrace it 100 percent. I think if you’re not all in, there’s a problem.
TJ, would really love to see you answer this question … do you regret signing with the Seahawks rather than with the Vikings? Explain why or why not.
Houshmandzadeh: Short-term, of course, Dave. But I think in about two to three more years, we’ll be right there. It’s so early to talk about this. If Brett Favre is not there, do they have the type of season they had? And he wasn’t there when free agency was going on. That was a big piece of the puzzle that wasn’t there at the time. But short-term? Who doesn’t want to be in the playoffs. But I think we’ll have a better season than they will this year — that’s just me being optimistic.
