The Jets will tender contracts to versatile WR Brad Smith and safety Eric Smith, Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum told the team’s official Web site Monday.
The Jets have 11 restricted free agents, and the team had previously announced that it would tender contracts to WR Braylon Edwards, RB Leon Washington and QB Kellen Clemens.
The NFL’s free-agency period lasts from March 5 through April 15. Teams that have tendered contracts would have one week to match a contract from another team. If a team, like the Jets, doesn’t match an offer, it would receive draft compensation.
