Wyche: Saints likely will use franchise tag on Sharper

NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche went Around The League on NFL Network’s NFL Total Access on Monday, discussing a number of free agents’ futures. From what he’s hearing, Wyche believes the Saints will apply the franchise tag to unrestricted free-agent FS Darren Sharper.

Sharper, who signed a reported one-year, $1.7 million contract with the Saints last offseason, would be due a tender amount of around $6.45 million under the franchise tag. The deadline for teams to apply tags is Feb. 25.
