The Titans want to re-sign Kevin Mawae, but the veteran center’s agent told The Tennessean that he hasn’t heard from the team.
“We’re kind of waiting to hear back from (the Titans) to see what they are thinking and hopefully we’ll hear from them this week.” Mark Bartelstein said Monday.
According to Bartlestein, Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt said before the Super Bowl that the team is “trying to take a deep breath and evaluate everything.” However, a league source told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora that keeping Mawae and guard Eugene Amano is an offseason priority for the Titans.
Mawae has made eight Pro Bowls in his 16-year career, and Bartelstein said his client wants to stay in Tennessee. Mawae joined the Titans in 2006 after eight seasons with the Jets (1998-2005) and four seasons with the Seahawks (1994-97).
