MIAMI GARDENS Fla. – While Indianapolis Colts DE Dwight Freeney completed a brief workout on his injured right ankle prior to Super Bowl XLIV, how effective he’ll be remains to be seen.
Freeney was ruled active by the Colts two hours prior to kickoff.
Freeney took the field with a team trainer for his pregame workout, his first known football activity on the ankle this week. Outwardly, the ankle appeared thicker than his left, a sign it is heavily wrapped. Freeney worked out for approximately 15 minutes, starting with a light jog and stretching before taking part in a simulated snap drill. He took 15 reps, working in all directions off the snap as well as on his spin move.
Nothing Freeney did was full speed, but he got progressively more explosive as he got warmed up. Watching the entire workout, it didn’t appear Freeney had any setbacks.
