Saints aim to get Brees hot early

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Saints coach Sean Payton certainly recognizes the advantage of a hot hand.
Payton met with the media for his final news conference of Super Bowl Week on Friday. The players had their final required sessions yesterday, making this the last time we’ll hear from the Saints before the game.
Most of the questions Payton took during the 20-minute newser were non-football related, and anything that wasn’t generally got a response we’ve already heard earlier this week. It’s just the nature of the way things work. But he did acknowledge the flow of the game early on – and recognizing what the Colts are doing defensively — is significant for quarterback Drew Brees.
“He’s a guy who can get hot early,” Payton said. “Our coaches look at it as an objective of ours. Just having the right balance and mix is important.”
The Saints will hold their final practice today, with a walk-through tomorrow.
