Super Bowl goes to the dogs

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – You may not hear this very often, but it’s a dog’s life here at the Super Bowl.

And, with that in mind, I’m in search of the REAL story this week -– the Dog Bowl 2010: Touchdown Treats Championship.

This canine carnival is being held all morning at the Bayside Marketplace in downtown Miami and promises to be a riot of tricks, stunts and football-themed events as various local dogs compete for the MVP award -– the Most Valuable Pooch.

Celebrity judges include Pittsburgh’s Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward -– a man with a real NFL pedigree -– and nationally renowned dog trainer Tracy Hanna.

The key, though, is that the winning owner gets two free tickets to Sunday’s game. The runners-up get to take home a year’s supply of Hill’s Science Diet Simple Essential Treats!

More importantly, Ward will also be giving away signed jerseys and footballs to audience members throughout the event.

Ever one to go in search of a good tail (groan), I’m off the leash and on my way!
