Kelly: Peyton is already greatest of all-time

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Wow, Jim Kelly is an honest guy. The Hall of Famer and former Buffalo Bills quarterback dropped by for a live chat with NFL fans earlier Thursday morning. He left quite an impression, as well as a pile of mini candybars (he’s a spokesman for Mars corporation which has many titles including Snickers, M&Ms and my favorite, 3 Musketeers).
I put down several 3 Musketeers before I realized it, but I’m hiding the wrappers so my co-workers don’t realize it. Thanks Jim.
Anyways, Kelly holds some very strong opinions, among them that Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback of all-time.
“I think he’s the greatest QB to ever play now,” Kelly told fans. “He’s such a technician out there, his arm strength, plus how he commands respect and is a leader, too. There’s no doubt in my mind he’s the greatest QB to every play. But [another Super Bowl win] will solidify a lot of minds in the media. In my mind, he’s the greatest QB to ever play. Period. But for all those media types who have never played, in their minds, he has to win to get put on that pedestal.”
Kelly certainly holds a position to judge quarterbacks, and his former backup, Frank Reich, is Manning’s QB coach in Indianapolis. Kelly said that Manning is the only quarterback he’s ever heard of that studies more than he did, not the first time we’ve heard of Manning’s extraordinary preparation.
