FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — It wasn’t a slip of the tongue.
In discussing why Colts tight end Dallas Clark is so difficult to cover, Saints safety Darren Sharper said at a news conference Monday, “He is Peyton’s — or I should say Eli’s — go-to guy.”
Sharper was referring to Colts’ quarterback Peyton Manning before referencing his brother, Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning.
When I asked Sharper for clarification, he told me that Peyton Manning, in a TV interview, referred to him as “Jamie,” Sharper’s brother, who played linebacker for Baltimore.
Sharper’s remark seemed to be a little bit of a good-natured jab. However, it appeared to be more of a slight since him and Manning are longtime veterans, who are well are of true identities.
