DAVIE, Fla. — Safety Darren Sharper is the Saints’ prominent veteran. Playing in his second career Super Bowl, the 13-year veteran is the one of the most experienced players on the roster and has the perspective of being a part of some talented teams in Green Bay, Minnesota, and now New Orleans.

So if there’s a gauge to judge where the team is at heading into the Super Bowl, Sharper is as good as any. The value of his opinion showed in the number of media surrounding his area Monday when he was one of six Saints to meet with the media at the Miami Dolphins training facility.

Sharper’s opinion is that there’s little doubt the Saints are ready.

“To be honest with you, this group of guys, we have the feel as though we belong,” Sharper said. “There’s never been a point where we’re about to play a team, or there’s a situation in a game where guys look around and say, ‘What’s going on? What are we supposed to do?’ Even this week, it seems as though we belong. Guys are understanding what’s at stake, and are extremely focused. We know we have a task at hand. We know that getting here is good, but winning is better.”
