Vikings’ Allen: ‘Do the right thing, Brett’

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — I secretly had been hoping to get through Pro Bowl week without having to blog about the Brett Favre topic (you know: Will he or won’t he?). I was successful, until Friday. Not bad.
To my dismay, in the open interview scrum earlier today, a Minneapolis Star-Tribune reporter managed to get one Favre question in for Vikings DE Jared Allen before he was pulled away for autographs. I’ll pass Allen’s message for the Silver Fox (check out the video for that classic explanation) along.
“Whatever Brett decides, we obviously respect him,” Allen said. “We want him back as a teammate, he was a great teammate. But, you know, a guy in his position, he has every right to retire. If he wants to come back, we’ll welcome him.
“I would just say, ‘Take your time. Make the right decision. Do the right thing, Brett. Do the right thing.’”
We’ll now go back to our regularly scheduled Pro Bowl blogging.
