Pace picking up on and off the field

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Day three of Pro Bowl practices have begun, and I’m checking out the scene from the stands this morning. The AFC squad had its team photos at the hotel this morning before heading over to practice. The NFC will practice second today.
The pace is picking up after a quiet few days. There’s clearly more of a buzz as more friends, families and fans are arriving.
What I can only assume was the family of Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch just passed in front of me, with two little guys in No. 93 jerseys and a little girl in a Titans’ dress. It wasn’t long before I overheard one of them spot their father in his Pro Bowl jersey, throwing them for a loop.
“Daddy is wearing red and white!”
Making the drive from the team hotel to the practice fields here at St. Thomas Aquinas High School has had me constantly pumping my breaks for drawbridges, police escorts and what feels like endless strings of traffic lights regardless of what route we take. Still, trying to get senior writer Steve Wyche to spill his coffee hasn’t been easy. The self-proclaimed “coffee cruise master” is well trained in coffee travel. He’s had enough spills that he always points the coffee lid away from himself.
