Deion Sanders, the motivator

FORT LAUDERALE, Fla. — Everywhere you look during a Pro Bowl practice, Deion Sanders is in the mix. As part of NFL Network’s broadcast team for the Pro Bowl practices, he’s often grabbing players off the field for sideline interviews or mixing it up with them during breaks. And Prime is ever the motivator.
Prime grabbed the NFC defensive backs — Terence Newman, Quintin Mikell, Michael Jenkins, Asante Samuel, Antrel Rolle and Nick Collins — following practice Friday along with NFL director of football operations Merton Hanks for one of his sessions. I grabbed the video here so you can watch the entire bit. It’s prime Prime, as you’ll see.
“Look at these shoulders, they’re made for suits,” Sanders quips about tackling. “They ain’t made for that. But make your tackles, make your plays, and don’t miss opportunities.”
Mikell, who noted defensive backs never want to look bad, said when Prime talks, the guys listen.
“It’s just great to meet him,” Mikel said. “I’ve wanted to meet him my whole life. He’s one of the best to ever play the game, and Merton Hanks as well. It was a great opportunity. It’s what this is all about. I’m lovin it.”
