MOBILE Ala. — USC RB Stafon Johnson‘s explosiveness has caught the attention of scouts here, and he is flashing the athleticism that made him a star with the Trojans.
That he is doing so after his traumatic senior season is remarkable. Johnson was the victim of a frightening weight room mishap in late September that left him with severe injuries to his neck and larynx. He missed the remainder of his senior year.
“I just knew that one day I would be back on the football field. I didn’t know when or where, but I knew I would be back on the football field,” said Johnson.
He is ecstatic to be back out practicing for the first time since September.
“It feels great. Of course, a little nervousness, but that’s football,” said Johnson.
“Once you keep playing and keep playing and let that emotion go through, now you’re back to playing football.”
