Tebow continues to enthrall the masses

According to scouts at the Senior Bowl, this has not been a great two days of practice for Tim Tebow. His delivery has been criticized and scouts question his mechanics and arm strength.

Nonetheless, Tebow is, and will continue to be, the story of the Senior Bowl. And that’s not going to change throughout the draft process.

Typically, attention is reserved for the top prospects — the guys who are seen as having a legitimate chance to go at the top of the first round. Maybe some low first-rounders or high second-rounders will garner some interest, but for the most part, it is the top 15 or so prospects that generate the most fanfare.

Not this year. Most observers seem to think Tebow will fall out of the first round (NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks does not have him going in the first round in his mock draft), and others even wonder if he will get drafted in the second. That makes no difference. Tebow was a legend at the University of Florida, and is more well-known than many current NFL players.

He could drop all the way to the sixth round, and all the attention on draft day would be placed on where he lands. He’s that big a star. News that he got strep throat caused an immediate stir, and his every move at practice was watched with anticipation by fans and media.

Gators followers in attendance cheered every completion, and his decision to strap it up, practice this week and play Saturday night despite being ill was the story on this day.

After his practice session, he was mobbed by the media. Most prospects, even projected first-rounders like Taylor Mays and Patrick Robinson, had at most a handful of media members approach them to ask questions, but Tebow had more than a dozen.

He was the last one to leave the field due to the intense media attention, and when he finally did make his way out the side gate, he was then met by a slew of autograph-seekers chanting his name.

This draft season could be unlike any we have seen in recent years, with one man, who isn’t even a top prospect, overshadowing everything. Get ready for Tebow mania.
