Jets’ Ryan gets right back to work

MOBILE, Ala. — The Jets just concluded their impressive playoff run, losing in the AFC Championship Game to the Indianapolis Colts, but that does not mean there isn’t work still to be done.
A large Jets contingent, led by coach Rex Ryan, is here at the Under Armour Senior Bowl intently watching the top draft-eligible prospects from around the country.
Ryan was his typical boisterous self, yukking it up with his brother, Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, while standing in the bleachers surveying practice.
Rex Ryan spent much of his time actually joking with one of the many former NFL players in attendance, ex-Redskins quarterback Jay Schroeder.
Schroeder played numerous times against Ryan’s father, Buddy Ryan, when he was the coach of the Eagles, and the two reminisced about old times and talked about how strong Schroeder’s arm was when he played.
New York is preparing to build on its 2009 success, but one thing will remain the same: Ryan is clearly not losing his sense of humor, as his cackling voice could be heard from several feet away.
