Jets CB Dwight Lowery will start in place of Lito Sheppard in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Colts, NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi has confirmed through a source.
According to the New York Daily News, Sheppard struggled in his last matchup against Colts WR Austin Collie in a Week 16 game in Indianapolis. The Daily News‘ sources said that Sheppard will be active Sunday, but he could be demoted to nickel- or dime-package duty.
Sheppard started in the Jets’ previous two playoff games, but he had only one tackle in last week’s victory over the Chargers. Lowery made three tackles in that game as a reserve.
