Indianapolis Colts veteran DE Raheem Brock checked in for a live chat on NFL.com on Monday, January 18, sharing his thoughts on this weekend’s AFC Championship Game, facing the Jets in a rematch and the mindset of the Colts.
Much of NFL Nation wanted to know about the matchup between the Colts’ defense and the Jets’ top-ranked rushing attack, which gained 202 yards in their last meeting. Brock told fans his biggest concern is not giving the Jets and their running game momentum. The Colts’ focus is to stop Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene, putting the game in the hands of QB Mark Sanchez.
“We need to shut down their run game,” Brock said. “If we do a good job of that — they have some good running backs — and not let them get momentum, we’ll have a great day on Sunday. They have some good backs, just like Baltimore. We want to put the game in the quarterback’s hands.”
Here are a few other excerpts from the full chat transcript:

Did you feel you should have gone for an undefeated season?
Brock: Hi Josh. No, I think they made the right decision. We can use the Patritos as an example, and losing a key playmaker in Wes Welker. We didn’t want that to happen to us. One or two guys go down, and things change for the playoffs. Guys have to play hurt, or someone has to come in that wasn’t used to playing. We wanted to go in at 100 percent and everyone healthy. I know everyone was thinking about that we should have done that, but really, our goal is to win the Super Bowl.
Keith , Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Peyton has seen Rex Ryan’s defense a lot in Baltimore. How do you think this will help him for this weeks game with the Jets?
Brock: I think it will be great. Peyton has been getting better and better the more he sees that defense. For us on defense, we want those guys on the field as much as possible to get into his comfort zone. Once he’s in that zone they start to put up points. He looked very comfortable against Baltimore.

Raheem congrats on the big win! my question is a simple one, what is the atmosphere like in the colts locker room after big wins like Saturday?
Brock: It was a great win, but it’s still only one win in the playoffs. We still have a goal we want to reach, and we take it week by week. Nothing has changed. We enjoyed it that night, but back at work the next day — working, training, doing film and getting ready for the next game this weekend.
