Cardinals Pro Bowl CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been announced as doubtful to return to Saturday’s game against the Saints due to a sprained left knee.
Rodgers-Cromartie was injured late in the first quarter when a player was blocked into him as he attempted to make a tackle on a short pass to Devery Henderson, and immediately began clutching his left knee. He had to be helped off the field by trainers, and was unable to put any weight on his left leg. After several minutes on the sideline, he was helped onto the back of a cart, and appeared to be in pain.
The Cardinals also announced during the second quarter that starting FS Antrel Rolle is questionable to return with a head injury. It’s unclear when Rolle was injured.
The loss of Rodgers-Cromartie, the team’s best cover corner, and Rolle leaves the Cardinals thin in the secondary, a week after surrendering 422 passing yards to the Packers. Rodgers-Cromartie has been replaced by rookie CB Greg Toler, who played in 13 games this season. Rolle’s listed backup is another rookie — Rashad Johnson — who has started one game this season.
