Chiefs agree to terms with Crennel

The Chiefs have agreed to terms with Romeo Crennel to become their defensive coordinator, a league source said Wednesday.

The Chiefs are in the process of relieving current defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast of his duties, according to a source, and Crennel will join the team following the Super Bowl, when he is free from existing commitments with the Browns.

Crennel, former head coach in Cleveland, will retain linebackers coach Gary Gibbs, but other staff changes are coming in Kansas City. Defensive line coach Tim Krumrie was let go last week.
