Patriots WR Sam Aiken will not return to Sunday’s AFC wild-card playoff game against the Ravens because of a head injury.
Aiken’s head slammed to the turf after he was upended while trying to make a catch with 9:06 remaining in the fourth quarter. Aiken finished the game with one reception for 5 yards.
The Patriots lost CB Shawn Springs, also to a head injury, during the first half.
Ravens TE Todd Heap left the game six minutes after Aiken departed. Heap was injured during a Willis McGahee run, but the Ravens didn’t immediately reveal the ailment. Heap walked off the field after suffering the injury.
“I don’t think it’s real serious, but we’ll have to see,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said of Heap’s injury.
