Mike Waufle is a candidate for the defensive line coach vacancy with the Washington Redskins.
Waufle, who was fired by the Giants as their defensive line coach this week, is expected to meet with the Redskins next week, according to a league source.
Waufle was praised for his work with the Giants, developing players like Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora. He coached a unit that was dominating at times, but the entire defense slipped in 2009, and the team generated a more tempered pass rush. Umenyiora, in particular, also clashed with first-year defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan, who was also fired at the end of the season.
