Peyton gives Saints time to rest during bye

The New Orleans Saints are using this week as a modified bye week after having clinched the NFC’s top seed, and thus a bye, in Week 16.

Coach Sean Peyton gave the players off until Friday after reporting Monday, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, and also gave the coaches a few days off midweek.

The team will then conduct two intense, full-contact practices Saturday and Sunday, aimed to mimic game conditions, before having a normal schedule next week to prepare for their first postseason game.
