A scary injury scenario is playing out right now at Land Shark Stadium in South Florida.
Dolphins rookie backup QB Pat White, playing in place of injured starter Chad Henne, was seriously injured late during the third quarter and carted off the field. While no official announcement has been made, it’s apparent White suffered some type of head or neck injury when he was hit helmet-to-helmet by Steelers CB Ike Taylor on the sideline.
White was moving his arms after he was loaded onto the cart by medical personnel.
The severity of White’s injury was evident immediately after the hit by Taylor. White was motionless, face-down on the turf, while Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and several other players began motioning and calling for trainers. Players from both teams huddled around the area of the sidelines where White was attended to, and Taylor offered some last words as the cart left.
The team’s emergency No. 3 quarterback against the Steelers is Tyler Thigpen.
