As some expected, the Cincinnati Bengals will rest some of their starters in Sunday night’s season finale against the New York Jets.
The Bengals deactivated starters RB Cedric Benson, FS Chris Crocker, DE Robert Geathers and DT Domata Peko. Benson was not listed on the Bengals’ injury report, and is expected to be replaced in the lineup by RB Bernard Scott. Crocker (ankle) had been listed as doubtful, while Geathers (knee) and Peko (knee) were questionable.
Bengals QB Carson Palmer is expected to start, but how long he plays remains to be seen. The Bengals have already clinched the AFC North and a playoff spot, and will be either the No. 3 or 4 seed depending on the outcome of tonight’s game.
If the Bengals lose, the Jets would clinch the No. 5 seed and would travel to Cincinnati next week for a re-match in the wild-card round. If the Bengals win, they become the No. 3 seed, eliminating the Jets, and would host the Texans as the No. 6 seed.
Here’s a closer look at the playoff picture and seedings.
