The hiring of Bruce Allen is a strong first step, but there is much more to come as the Redskins try once again to reclaim their glory and emerge from a long malaise. I continue to hear from multiple league sources that Mike Shanahan remains the most likely choice to take over as the Washington Redskins’ head coach in 2010.

The Washington Redskins have hired Bruce Allen as executive vice president/general manager, reports NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi. Earlier Thursday morning, the Redskins announced that Vinny Cerrato had resigned as the team’s VP of football operations.

Washington Redskins VP of football operations Vinny Cerrato has resigned from the team, it was announcd Thursday morning. Cerrato has been with owner Daniel Snyder since he purchased the team a decade ago, save for the 2001 season.
