I’ve always said that even the most educated and knowledgeable fantasy leaguers still need a lot of luck to win a championship. Even if you’re constructed what seems like an unbeatable team, Lady Luck can still steal your hopes and dreams.
Here’s a perfect example.
NFL.com photo editor (and self proclaimed fantasy guru) Ben Liebenberg put together one heck of a team back in August. It included Saints QB Drew Brees, Vikings QB Brett Favre, Titans RB Chris Johnson, Ravens RB Ray Rice (wait, I’m not done yet), Colts WR Reggie Wayne, Broncos WR Brandon Marshall and TE Vernon Davis.
In short, his team was sick. It was fantasy football’s version of the 1927 New York Yankees.
And it just lost in Week 15.
Ben’s opponent, NFL Network sound man Paul Bouzar, has a team that wasn’t nearly as good on paper — but simply had a better week.
Bouzar started Eagles QB Donovan McNabb, Cowboys RB Marion Barber, Cowboys WR Miles Austin, Packers WR Donald Driver, Falcons WR Roddy White , Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez and the Ravens defense.
As you can tell, Ben’s team is far superior. But it wasn’t this week, and that’s all that matters.
