Cowboys’ Ware makes limited presence felt

Not long after he helped seal a 24-17 win to end the New Orleans Saints’ bid at a perfect season Saturday night, Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware stopped by the set of the NFL Network postgame show.
Ware, a game-time decision following a neck injury last week, made his presence felt against the Saints after not practicing during the week. Although he was limited to mostly third downs, he was credited with two sacks, both of which caused a fumble. The second brought down Saints QB Drew Brees with 6 seconds remaining on Dallas’ 42-yardline to thwart the final comeback bid.
“On Monday, I couldn’t hardly move my neck,” Ware said. “When I told the team I was playing tonight, everybody’s eyes lit up. And, as you can see, the scoreboard lit up too.”
Ware was asked what message he’d deliver to K Nick Folk, who missed a 24-yard field goal with just more than two minutes remaining that would have given the Cowboys a 10-point lead.
“The main thing is, coming from a guy like me or [Tony] Romo, you have to go and tell him, ‘You know, you didn’t lose this game. We stepped up on offense, we stepped up on other special teams, and we took up for the miss you had. But next week, you really need to turn it up, you need to focus.’ Really, to be honest, to focus and get the job done. Nick Folk, he’ll do that.”
