Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware was carted off the field during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Chargers after suffering a sprained neck.
The Cowboys released a statement saying Ware was taken to the hospital for X-rays after further evaluation, and confirmed he had full movement and strength in his extremities.
Ware, who colided head-first with a Chargers offensive lineman while rushing the quarterback, was down on the field for a lengthy period of time, surrounded by medical personnel as well as players from both teams. His head and neck immoblized and his facemasked removed, he was placed on a backboard before being lifted onto a stretcher and placed on the back of a cart.
Ware gave a thumbs-up to the Cowboys Stadium crowd, and could be seen speaking with one member of the medical staff. He was also moving his arms freely while speaking with teammate Marcus Spears.
The measures taken in light of his injury appear to have been precautionary, and it looks for now Ware avoided a more serious injury.
