NFL teams typically make last-minute moves to fill roster needs created by injuries. Here are Saturday’s transactions:
- The Jets signed rookie OT Ryan McKee from the practice squad in case G Alan Faneca and/or OT Wayne Hunter can’t play Sunday against the Buccaneers. Faneca and Hunter are listed as questionable on the Jets’ injury report because of undisclosed illnesses.
- Veteran DT Shaun Smith‘s second Bengals stint lasted just four days after he was cut to make roster room for rookie CB Rico Murray off the practice squad. Starting safety Chris Crocker (ankle) and backup Kyries Hebert (knee) are questionable to play, so the Bengals needed depth in the secondary for Sunday’s game against Brett Favre’s Vikings. Smith, who played with the Bengals from 2004 to 2006, re-signed with the team Wednesday.
- The Ravens released FB Charles Ali and promoted WR Justin Harper from the practice squad to the active roster, the team’s Web site reported. That probably means WR Mark Clayton, who had been listed as doubtful with a knee injury, will not play Sunday against the Lions.
- The Chiefs promoted rookie DT Dion Gales from the practice squad in advance of Sunday’s game against the Bills. According to the Chiefs’ Web site, the team was down to five defensive linemen after backup NT Kenny Smith was released earlier in the week.
