Jets coach Rex Ryan said Wednesday that he’s taking the advice of medical experts and holding out starting QB Mark Sanchez this week against the Buccaneers. Kellen Clemens will make the start.
Sanchez, who didn’t practice Monday as he recovers from a sprained right knee, will not be active in Sunday’s game.
“The more information I got from the doctors this morning, I just think we’d be taking a unnecessary risk,” Ryan told reporters during a news conference. “If it was up to Mark, he’d play, no question. But this is what I get paid for, making this decision right now.
“This is the best thing for Mark going forward.”
