Lions coach Jim Schwartz announced Wednesday that veteran backup QB Daunte Culpepper will start this weekend against the Ravens while rookie starter Matthew Stafford rests his sore left shoulder.
Culpepper said he was “excited” to be the starter for Sunday’s game. Culpepper made two starts in October when Stafford had a different injury.
Stafford said after last Sunday’s loss to the Bengals that he would consider sitting out a game or two to give his non-throwing shoulder time to heal. Stafford aggravated the shoulder, which he originally hurt during a Nov. 22 victory over the Browns.
