Benson will be back for Bengals

The next time the Bengals take the field, they’ll have leading rusher Cedric Benson back in the fold. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis announced during his Monday news conference he expects Benson to return, and start, against the Lions on Sunday.

Benson was expected to return from a hip injury to play against the Cleveland Browns, but instead was a late scratch and missed his second straight game.

The Bengals didn’t miss a beat, though, as rookie RB Bernard Scott got the start and rushed for 87 yards on 18 carries. Scott teamed with the recently signed Larry Johnson, who rushed 22 times for 107 yards in his first extensive action with the team. The Bengals rushed for 210 yards in the 16-7 win.
