Lions rookie QB Matthew Stafford has an injury to the AC joint in his left shoulder and looks doubtful to play Thursday against the Packers, a league source told NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi.
Stafford is extremely sore in his non-throwing shoulder, the source said, but he shouldn’t be out for a long time. Stafford could play against the Packers if the pain subsides.
Stafford didn’t participate in the Lions’ walk-through Monday. He was injured during Sunday’s comeback victory over the Browns and threw the winning touchdown pass despite being in pain. He finished the game with a career-high five TD passes.
If Stafford can’t play Thursday, the Lions likely would turn to veteran backup Daunte Culpepper.
