Jets’ Leonhard active despite broken thumb

Jets safety Jim Leonhard is active for Sunday’s AFC East showdown with the Patriots, meaning he’ll likely play with a cast protecting his broken right thumb.
Leonhard practiced with the cast Friday, but he won’t be able to handle his punt-return duties. Jerricho Cotchery will field punts for the Jets.
The Patriots will be without two starting offensive linemen, Matt Light and Stephen Neal. Light missed New England’s previous four games because of a knee injury, but he returned to practice this week on a limited basis. Neal suffered a concussion during last week’s loss to the Colts.
