Bengals again practice without Benson

Bengals RB Cedric Benson missed his second consecutive practice because of a hip injury Thursday, making it increasingly more likely that he won’t play this weekend against the Raiders.
The Bengals signed former Chiefs RB Larry Johnson earlier in the week for running back depth. Cincinnati also has three-year pro Brian Leonard and rookie Bernard Scott at the position, but Johnson, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, has much more experience.
Scott played well in last weekend’s victory over the Steelers, posting 33 rushing yards and 21 receiving yards and returning a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Leonard carried the ball four times for 8 yards and caught three passes for 24 yards.
Benson, who sprained his hip muscles against the Steelers, didn’t sound too upbeat Wednesday about the Bengals signing Johnson, saying, “Oh, I didn’t know I was supposed to be jumping out of my seat or anything.”
