Saints FS Darren Sharper told NFL Network’s Lindsay Soto that he will not play Sunday, and the team later placed him on its inactive list for the game against the Rams.
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reported earlier in the day that Sharper was considered 50-50 because of a left knee injury. The Saints listed Sharper as questionable on their injury report Friday. Sharper told Soto that he will be ready to go next week.
Sharper is tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with seven, three of which he has returned for touchdowns. This will be the first game he has missed this season.
Center Jonathan Goodwin will start for the Saints after being listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Goodwin missed practice earlier in the week and was limited in Friday’s workout. Randall Gay will start in place of CB Jabari Greer, who’s out with a groin injury.
