Redskins will start Betts but might rotate RBs

Redskins RB Ladell Betts will start Sunday against the Broncos despite a sprained ankle, a league source told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora.

Betts’ availability is good news for Washington, which will not have starter Clinton Portis because of a concussion he suffered last week.

Betts, a 1,000-yard rusher in 2006, missed most of practice this week. Though his ankle is feeling better than it did midweek, he’s still not 100 percent, and the team might have to rotate running backs to keep Betts fresh.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn said Friday that he could use a running back by committee of Betts, Rock Cartwright and Quinton Ganther.
