The Patriots declared RB Sammy Morris out of Sunday night’s game against the Colts after originally listing him as questionable with a knee injury.
The Patriots also placed rookie WR Brandon Tate (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and signed former Cowboys WR Isaiah Stanback from the practice squad.
Morris missed the previous two games because of the injury, and he sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning in a limited fashion Friday.
With Morris out again, the Patriots likely will start Laurence Maroney or Kevin Faulk at running back against the Colts. BenJarvus Green-Ellis also might have some carries.
Maroney leads all Patriots running backs with 347 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Faulk and Morris are tied for third with 109 rushing yards.
