Niners will rest injured WR Bruce vs. Bears

The 49ers don’t plan to dress veteran WR Isaac Bruce for Thursday night’s home game against the Bears, choosing to rest him instead, league sources told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora.

Without Bruce, who rolled his troublesome ankle during Tuesday’s practice, the 49ers will heavily rely on their three young receivers, Michael Crabtree, Jason Hill and Josh Morgan. Bruce had been listed as questionable.

If it was a playoff game, the 49ers likely would play Bruce, who hasn’t missed a game this season despite the ankle issues.

Update: The 49ers put Bruce on their inactive list, which was released about one hour before kickoff.
