Canty, Boley active for Giants

The Giants’ beleaguered defense could receive some help with DT Chris Canty and LB Michael Boley active for Sunday’s game against the Chargers. Both had been listed as questionable to play.

Canty hasn’t played since the season opener because of a calf injury, and Boley missed the last four games after having surgery on his right knee.

The Giants have lost three consecutive games, partly because of a defense that has failed to stop the opposition.

The Chargers are without LBs Tim Dobbins (knee) and Kevin Burnett (ankle), meaning third-year pro Brandon Siler likely will start.
