Bears DT Harris ejected for throwing punch

Tommie Harris‘ return to the Bears’ starting lineup didn’t last long.

Officials ejected Harris on the fifth play of Sunday’s game at Soldier Field after the three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle threw a punch at Cardinals OL Deuce Lutui, who was down on the ground. The Bears were issued a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness.

Harris sat out last Sunday’s 45-10 loss to the Bengals after missing an entire week of practice. At first, Bears coach Lovie Smith said he benched Harris because of a sore left knee but later admitted that he wanted to see the veteran practice before he played in a game.
