Niners’ Clements fractures shoulder blade

A 49ers spokesman confirmed to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat that CB Nate Clements sustained a fractured right scapula during Sunday’s 18-14 loss to the Colts.

The severity of Clements’ injury will determine the team’s course of action, according to the spokesman. It’s not yet known how much time Clements will miss.

Clements, who started the first six games of the season, was replaced in the starting lineup by Tarell Brown. According to the Press Democrat, Clements saw limited playing time in packages featuring extra defensive backs against the Colts.

Niners LT Joe Staley sustained a sprained right knee during the first quarter against the Colts and didn’t return.
