Colts DE Dwight Freeney will be active vs. the Colts after he was expected to miss two weeks with a strained right quadriceps. LB Gary Brackett will be out.

Lions RB Smith will play at Chicago

Lions RB Kevin Smith will play vs. the Bears. Smith’s status was in question because of a shoulder injury.

Chiefs WR Bowe active vs. Giants

Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe will return today after missing last week as Kansas City plays host to the New York Giants. The Giants have several notable injuries on the defense. As expected, CB Aaron Ross and DL Chris Canty will be out today.

Redskins’ Portis active vs. Bucs

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that Redskins RB Clinton Portis will be active vs. the Buccaneers today. Portis was listed as questionable with a calf injury.

Pats WR Welker, DT Wilfork active vs. Ravens

Patriots WR Wes Welker and DT Vince Wilfork will be active this week as New England plays host to Baltimore. Welker missed the Patriots’ last two games with a knee injury after having 12 receptions in the opener. WR Joey Galloway has been deactivated.

Lewis, Dawson inactive for Browns

The Browns will be without RB Jamal Lewis in today’s game against the Bengals.

Steelers promote Redman for RB depth

Starting RB Willie Parker is doubtful to play Sunday against the Chargers, so the Steelers promoted rookie RB Isaac Redman from the practice squad to the active roster and released veteran DE Nick Eason.

Vikings G Hutchinson practices but is questionable

Vikings G Steve Hutchinson returned to practice today, albeit in limited fashion, and is listed as questionable to play Monday night against the Packers. Hutchinson is dealing with a back problem, but he hasn’t missed a game this season.
