Steelers plan to have Polamalu return for Week 6

The plan in Pittsburgh is for safety Troy Polamalu to return to practice on a limited basis this week as he recovers from a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Polamalu did take part in a limited portion of practice Wednesday, but his return to game action might be further off.

Crabtree’s deal could be worth up to $40 million

Michael Crabtree, the No. 10 overall draft pick, received $17 million guaranteed from the 49ers in a six-year deal that has a minimum base value of $32 million and a maximum value of $40 million. Crabtree’s contract voids to five years if he has Pro Bowl seasons in two of the first four years. In that case, the base value would be $28 million.

Patriots agree in principle with LB Seau

The Patriots and Junior Seau have agreed on the parameters of a deal, and all that would be required is for the team to execute the contract and have the veteran linebacker join the team.
