Saints rule out DT Ellis due to knee injury

The New Orleans Saints have officially ruled out DT Sedrick Ellis for Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons due to a knee injury.

Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Thursday that Ellis had a sprained knee, but didn’t offer any timetable for his return. Ellis sat out all three days of practice this week.

The Saints also listed LB Scott Fujita (calf) as questionable. Fujita hasn’t practiced the last two weeks since he was injured in Week 6 against the Giants. The Saints listed eight players as probable, all of whom took part in full practice Saturday, including rookie DB Malcom Jenkins (ankle).

The Falcons will likely be thin in the backfield against the Saints, as RBs Jerious Norwood (hip) and Jason Snelling (hamstring) were held out of practice for the third consecutive day and listed as questionable.

On the defensive front, starters DE John Abraham (foot) and DT J0nathan Babineaux (ankle) took part in a limited portion of practice and were listed as questionable. DT Thomas Johnson (calf), who has started three games this season, did not practice and is also listed as questionable.
