GREEN BAY — It took Halloween — which happens to be Brett Favre‘s Return Eve — to bring the characters out in Green Bay.
From a costumed Packer, to a Favre fan wearing a jersey with some element of every team he’s played for (except Atlanta), to posses of Vikings supporters; the vibe in Green Bay perked up significantly Saturday as temperatures dropped and the game between Minnesota and the Packers neared.
Most of the action took place off Lombardi Avenue, where hundreds of people matriculated to the Atrium at Lambeau Field, where there are shops, restaurants and the tours of the legendary stadium originate. It was there where NFL.com photographer Ben Liebenberg and I began to make a lot of new friends.
First, there was Bruce Roehsner, a Packer fan so loyal, he donned a leather helmet and a replica uniform of the Acme Packers. Talk about a throwback. Roehsner, who wears the threads that he said he made himself to Packers events and games (so it wasn’t a Halloween costume), plans to boo, heckle and do what he can to make Favre feel at home. He said most of Packers Nation will follow suit, but he also thinks there are some soft hearts in Green Bay who just don’t have it in them to let Favre have it.
This definitely isn’t Philly.
